No one remembers Frédéric Chopin

No one remembers Frédéric Chopin

In these days in Buenos Aires, I had the chance to see some plays. Not all the ones I would have liked, but those that time allowed me. After a year and a half of watching and performing theater only in English, landing in “Ya nadie recuerda a Frederic Chopin” by the beloved Tito Cossa was a moving experience of “Argentinidad al palo” as La Bersuit says. There is nothing more Argentine than this play and author, and yet, it took me much further back. I believe, and this is an absolutely personal opinion, that one of the virtues of great playwrights is their ability to capture universal themes and reinterpret them for their own culture. Without a doubt, Tito achieves this, and this cast of talented and dedicated colleagues ensures that this achievement reaches the audience. What happened in the subsequent discussion demonstrates that this show, in these times, is a necessary meeting place. Thank you for the invitation dear fellows! I embrace you all!
